Measurement Technician – Liquids

Measurement Technicians are largely self-directed and require strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Interfaces and maintains, in a professional, ethical and safe manner, contact with producer’s representatives, transportation and industrial sales customers and representatives of other pipeline companies relating to joint testing, accuracy in measurement and changes in operation. Responsibilities for assigned operations require approximately 75% of time in the field and 25% in the office. Under direction, schedules and facilitates the installation, operation, repair and testing of assigned measurement areas, telemetry, control facilities and related equipment to insure flow measurement accuracy and reliability for all liquid measurement and control facilities. A strong knowledge base with related flow measurement equipment and related peripherals is a must.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate advanced measurement and control systems, SCADA interface and quality equipment
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
  • Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence
  • Regular and predictable attendances
  • Witnesses third party meter calibrations and grind outs (liquids)
  • Detect measurement errors and correct volumes as needed and provide supporting documentation
  • Interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics to be able to troubleshoot reported issues
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum education associates degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties
  • Instrument Society of America Certified Control Systems Technician Certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills of MS Office, operating systems, company software
  • Excellent math skills
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high pressure systems
  • Advanced knowledge with electronic test instruments

Technical & Personal Skills:

  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimum supervision
  • RS Logix configuration experience
  • Factory Talk configuration experience
  • RS Logix configuration experience
  • Flow Computer Configuration Experience
    • OMNI
    • AFC
    • Total Flow XRC
  • Use of advanced calibration equipment and software (475 Field Communicator, Prolink Software ex..)
  • Adequate analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Ability to work with others, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to speak and understand English

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift up to 60 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Working alone in possible adverse weather conditions, high pressures, loud noises, working at heights and cramped conditions.
