OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

 

Provides Engineering support to the Eagle Ford Production Operations Teams to enhance and optimize existing facility operations.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Engineering technical focal point for field Production Operations teams, assigned by route.
  2. Identify, research and implement long term solutions to enhance Eagle Ford’s operations through safer operation / cost reduction / improved production.
  3. React to plant / production upsets. Thoroughly investigate to understand the root cause. Propose cost effective solutions to reduce the likelihood of a repeat.
  4. Support alarm and trip reduction projects across their facilities.
  5. Actively lead / participate in incident investigations, working closely with Maintenance and Reliability Engineers as appropriate.
  6. Maintains situational awareness of project status within New Facilities Engineering Team and others as required.
  7. Provides project management support for field projects as required to balance workloads
  8. Participate actively in industry forums to maintain contacts network and share learnings.
  9. Ensures Facilities Engineering Supervisor has situational awareness of main issues within their area of responsibility.
  10. Liaise closely with other Operational Support Engineers within the asset to provide consistent and standardized support.

JOB CONTEXT AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

 

Eagle Ford facilities have evolved over preceding years. Coupled with the rapid initial and ongoing expansion of the asset, operational and technical challenges remain to be addressed.

 

The position is part of the Field Facilities Engineering Team within the Engineering, Construction and Maintenance Department. The position is expected to be the Facilities Engineering focal point for Production Operations Teams to actively follow up on issues as they are identified to drive continuous improvement within the asset in the areas of Safety, Environmental and Reliability.

 

As opportunities are identified, investigated and solutions proposed. The Operations Support Engineer will submit Project Scoring Sheets for review by the Steering Committee. Once approved, execution of the projects will be the responsibility of MOC Engineers.

 

For all the aspects of the position a clear expectation exists to follow industry norms but also to challenge accepted practice and look for ways to obtain maximum availability & cost efficiency whilst maintaining a high level of safety integrity.

The job holder is responsible for ensuring all work under their direction is compliance with HES&S practices.

The job holder shall participate actively in all Eagle Ford HES&S initiatives.

The job holder directly impacts HES through their close interaction and guidance to Production Operations teams.

 

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

 

Investigates and makes technical recommendations for design modifications to existing facilities.

Proposes procedural changes to existing practices.

Approves financial decisions within their approval authority limits

 

RELATIONSHIPS

 

Facilities Engineering Supervisor

Status of key performance indicators by which their performance is measured.

Continuous awareness of facility issues / constraints / opportunities.

Production Supervisor / Production Teams

Provide Engineering support to ongoing field activities including plant production optimization, incident investigation, plant stability projects, alarm and trip rationalization.

MOC Engineers

Provide additional clarity and information on approved projects to ensure design for implementation will meet desired needs.

New Facilities Engineering Team

Input and feedback on current operations to ensure incorporation into future designs.

Maintenance and Reliability

Work closely with M&R Engineers during incident investigations, development of solutions to existing issues, resolution of field maintenance and production worst actors.

Eagle Ford Asset Management

Formal presentations / updates as appropriate on key projects.

Others

HES, Design Contractors, local and global vendors.

 

JOB CHALLENGES

 

Supporting multiple, unique, relatively complex facilities. Ensuring the appropriate technical solution is identified that is the most cost effective without compromising the core values of Safety, the Environment and Reliability.

Establish excellent relationships and lines of communication with relevant personnel within the asset.

Manage competing priorities from the field.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

The minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Professionally qualified engineer with 5 or more years’ experience in unconventional resource plays with experience in facility design, operations and maintenance
  • Strong relationship builder and effective communicator
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, remain calm in a high pressure working environment
