Manager Corporate Supply Chain

Job Description


Reports To:  Director, Corporate Supply Chain

 


Position Summary:  The Global Supply Category Manager will develop and manage category procurement and sourcing strategies utilizing the Exterran strategic sourcing process to obtain business value and market research.  Responsibilities include negotiation, contracting, implementation and ongoing supplier management for continuous improvement. On an ongoing basis, the Strategic Sourcing Category Manager monitors, analyzes and integrates changes to the internal business requirements and external supply market drivers that can impact future business performance for the assigned spend category and modifies the sourcing strategy accordingly.

 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


·        Develop a detailed understanding of assigned category and serve as the source of category insight, content and process knowledge to support category related business requirements


−       Analyze historical spend and supplier performance


−       Identify and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding of current and future business needs


−       Work with internal stakeholders to develop sourcing plans


·        Develop a detailed understanding of the market for assigned product categories


−       Develop market analysis including: tracking key indices, developing strategies to ensure maximum leverage for category purchases, and evaluating capacity


−       Identify and maintain relationships with major suppliers to ensure inclusion of the appropriate suppliers in the right opportunities for maximum benefit


−       Identify and maintain relationships with major category suppliers and industry analysts gathering insight to better understand suppliers’ key differentiations, technology road-maps and business modes with the goal of identifying opportunities to improve the overall quality and delivery of products and services


·        Develop and execute category solutions


−       Oversee complex category specific sourcing projects including: development, implementation and evaluation of the solicitation, negotiations preparation and execution, contract award and implementation, and supplier management


−       Serve as a subject matter expert to coach/advise other sourcing teams


·        Collect, develop and maintain intellectual capital related to strategic sourcing of the categories to include:


−       Subcategory lists and definitions


−       Supplier lists by appropriate subcategory


−       Supply market definitions, process flows, and segmentation analyses for category and sub-categories


−       Standard operating procedures and sustainable cost improvement processes


−       Initiative compliance tracking and transparent cost reporting

 


Required Skills or Tools:


·        Demonstrated competencies in the strategic sourcing process, including: 


−       Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills


−       Proficient in building and delivering business cases, presentations and managerial reports to Senior Management


−       Negotiations


−       Supply market research and data analysis


·        Energetic, flexible team player capable of forming strong relationships throughout the organization while leveraging resources, processes and tools to achieve desired outcomes


·        Proven ability to manage change and work across boundaries


·        Ability to work in a structured project environment


·        Strong MS Office skills with Excel, Power Point, and Word

 


Preferred Education/Experience:


·        Minimum requirement is for an undergraduate degree in a business or engineering related field


·        7-10 years’ experience in a strategic sourcing role


·        5+ years’ experience in a category manager role
