Archrock is hiring for the following position: Enterprise Architect Director in the Houston, TX area.


Provides expertise in Enterprise Architecture. Plays a key role in defining the IT application roadmap(s), using technology to enable business process automation, and leading the development capability to deliver enterprise solutions. Contributes to the planning of the overall organizational IT strategy and aligns strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding IT products and services, partners and suppliers; organizational capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives. Works to develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive software development frameworks, and available industry standard techniques.


Essential Duties                               (Approximate % of Time Spent)    

  • Defines strategic initiatives on the roadmap and facilitates project initiation.  Helps identify business drivers for projects and initiatives.  Performs gap analysis between capabilities and requirements to meet business goals. Ensures the system/application hosting environment best meets the business needs (i.e. insource, outsource, cloud, etc.).  Reviews project scope and planned approach to ensure alignment with technical architecture.  Leads the industrial IoT, Analytics/Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, and field service automation efforts for the firm.   (~60%)
  • Leverages the current application portfolio (Oracle EBS 12.2.x, Salesforce, Hyperion, Microsoft BI, APEX, etc.) to enable business process automation and ensure the success of enterprise-level application roll-outs.   Fosters a climate that supports relationship building and collaboration between the business and IT.  Partners with business and IT to facilitate identification and adoption of best practices.   (~10%)
  • Provides system integration expertise focused on automating system interconnects (ex. BPEL, SOA, Informatica, XML gateway, etc.)  (~10%)
  • Reviews the systems landscape and builds business cases to optimize and improve the environment.  Defines the future state and executes the transition to it.  (~10%)
  • Develops architectural approaches and solutions, execution plans and roadmaps to help realize business strategies. Tracks industry trends to feed into the road-mapping process.   (~10%)

Non-Essential Duties:

Potential: Lead the development area with experience in offshore development models; optimize 3rd party development spending and quality of delivery



Skills and Abilities: 

Ability to:

– Coordinate multiple initiatives leading to the implementation and support of Oracle EBS R12 modules (required)

– Perform software engineering (preferred) and advanced technical skills related to enterprise architecture and road mapping (required)

– Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication, listening, negotiation, presentation (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint) and time management skills (required)


Knowledge of:

–  Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture and the impact of architectural design on business automation processes (required)

–  Systems and business processes in Oilfield Services (required)

–  Field Operations systems and processes (preferred)

–  Regulatory systems and processes (preferred)

–  Hosting provider knowledge (i.e. Oracle PaaS, AWS, Azure, traditional outsourcers) (preferred)


Minimum Education and Certification:

– Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or other related scientific or technical discipline


Minimum Experience:

– 10+ years with experience in the following:

–  SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) process ownership

–  Financial and production accounting systems and processes

–  Oracle EBS R12: Service, Supply Chain Order Management, Finance and Human Resources

–  Oracle EBS R12: APEX, BPEL, SOA, Oracle Forms, PL/SQL

–  Big data analytics (i.e. Hadoop, Tableau)

–  Oil and Gas field service automation

–  Agile methodology experience

–  Database management experience

–  Business Process Management, Modeling and Analysis

–  Business intelligence/analytics – Internet of Things (IoT) in oil and gas preferred 



– Subject matter expert for IT architecture and field service automation areas (industrial IoT) and as such, will be expected to lead others in his team.

– Regularly functions as a technical leader and significant contributor to all major, complex problems / projects.

– Finds creative solutions to multi-faceted and /or time sensitive, complex problems on a regular basis

– Consistently isolates and defines unknown conditions and develops new architectural approaches
